I was drawn to neurosurgery by the challenge. There remains so much to learn about the brain, and this specialty is constantly evolving and changing – and changing lives.
It is hard to choose a favourite – so many neurosurgical and neurovascular procedures have such a profound impact on people’s lives, whether it be acute thrombectomy for stroke, deep brain stimulation for Parkinson’s disease, or the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia. These operations have the power to give people their life back, which is very rewarding.
Too many to list! I am an amateur musician, and love playing with bands and orchestras when I can. I am a licensed aeroplane and helicopter pilot and fly for fun whenever I can. Of course, first and foremost I enjoy spending time with my wife and 3 children, who are my whole world.
